Essay 3: Remembering the Home

home is defined as a physical structure within which one lives, such as a house or apartment. But thats not what a home means to me. to me:
home, is a place where a man or a living thing contains everything that is attached to him, everything that has emotions and love for him, everything that has an influence on his character and his upbringing, everything that has a deep meaning behind who he is and who he is to become. it is an environment which offers security, peace and happiness.

Every architect or designer has his/her own style, own imagination and creativity. and all architects or designers have his/her own  inspirations and influences. one of  the major influences on a designer is their living environment (since their childhood) and their upbringing, which not many of us realize until and unless we look back on our past.

I practically was brought up in my grandfather's house, built and designed by himself, a house which i would define as a place which makes me feel safe, warm and happy.

Being brought up with alot of cousin and relatives required a big and comfortable space, which my grand father provided for us. i practically grew up in very big house with a lot of openings to allow natural light and ventilation into the space. a house which had a massive garden, with a lot of trees and plants around us. my grand father was a person who liked to pick up his own fruits from his own garden and thus he designed what he loved and what he required for his and his families satisfaction.

He was a person who loved nature and thus wanted to experience what he loved, therefore he designed a house which had sufficient amount of natural light, wind and vegetation, so being inside the house actually felt like being outside in the open, but more comfortable. And therefore i would say the inside outside concept and the enrichment of natural light  and ventilation in a space has a major influence on my designs, which i never realized till this moment. and the love for nature and natural entities which my grandfather had has been passed on to me as a great inspiration and perception.
